DJI Avata 360: First 360° FPV drone with 8K – Pre-release & info
DJI teases the Avata 360 – a completely new drone category
DJI has announced a new drone via its official social media channels, including @DJIGlobal: the DJI Avata 360. With the teaser slogan “Above It All, See It All,” the manufacturer hints that the model will feature an integrated 360-degree camera for the first time.
This could allow DJI to open up a completely new drone category: a combination of FPV flight (First Person View) and 360° video recording, where the viewing angle can be chosen after the flight.
8K 360° Video: Film First, Choose the Framing Later
The biggest difference compared to traditional camera drones lies in the recording principle.
Instead of filming only forward, a 360-degree camera captures the entire surroundings. This means:
-
8K 360° video recording
-
Ability to choose the framing after the flight
-
Perfect perspectives for social media clips
-
“Tiny Planet” and VR effects
According to leaks, the drone could support 8K panoramic video at up to 60 fps.
This technology opens up completely new creative possibilities, especially for YouTubers, filmmakers, action-sports athletes, and content creators
FPV Flight Meets a 360-Degree Camera
The Avata series is known for its FPV flight experience. Users typically control the drone with DJI Goggles and see the camera feed directly from the drone’s perspective.
The DJI Avata 360 is expected to expand on exactly this concept:
-
Cinewhoop-style FPV design
-
Protected propellers for close-range shots
-
Integrated dual-lens system for 360° video
This would enable dynamic flight shots in tight spaces or during fast-paced action sequences.
At the same time, users could later freely decide where the camera “looks” in the final video, selecting the perspective from the full 360° footage.
