Cinematic Imaging System - Designed for Pros
The Ronin 4D is equipped with the Zenmuse X9, DJI's flagship full-frame camera. It also features CineCore 3.0, DJI's latest image processing system. This system uses a custom chip developed by DJI to provide advanced processor architecture. This makes it one of the most powerful cinema cameras on the market today. With CineCore 3.0, the Ronin 4D can easily handle internal recording of video in Apple ProRes RAW, ProRes 422 HQ and H.264. It also supports video capture at up to 8K/75fps and 4K/120fps, and offers numerous options for professional shooting.

DCI 8K (8192×4320)/60fps video retains every last detail, from lush foliage to inspiring architecture, from skin textures to hair strands, all in pristine quality. For those who require full resolution in 4K, shooting in 8K offers unprecedented creative options with more flexibility to crop, recompose, and stabilize video in post.
The Zenmuse X9 supports dual native ISO values (X9-8K: 800/4000; X9-6K: 800/5000), capturing images with exquisite detail and minimal noise, even when you're filming an evening cityscape or beach, or a scene in dim candlelight.
With a dynamic range of 14+ stops, the Zenmuse X9 delivers natural transitions of highlights and shadows even in complex lighting conditions like backlit shots and direct sunlight. These traditionally difficult shots can now be mastered with ease and confidence.
With the DJI Cinema Color System (DCCS) and the robust processing power of CineCore 3.0, the Zenmuse X9 is able to give images a cinematic look by maintaining authentic and accurate colors. It also supports the industry-standard ACES workflow for effortless compatibility with the color tones of other cinema cameras.
Built-in ND filters with 9 f-stops
The X9 features built-in high-quality ND filters with 9 f-stops (ND 2 to ND 512 or ND 0.3 to ND 2.7) that can be switched quickly and easily thanks to an internal motorized system. These filters are also designed to match and complement the Color Science of the Ronin 4D.
The X9's standard DL mount supports three compact full-frame fixed focal length lenses. The bodies are made of lightweight unibody carbon, so each lens weighs only about 180g. Additional DJI lenses will be available in the future.
The X9 supports interchangeable lens mounts, including DJI's proprietary DL mount as well as third-party mounts such as Leica M. Ultra-wide angle, f/0.95 wide aperture, electronic zoom, macro and anamorphic lenses compatible with traditional cinema cameras also work with the X9, providing flexible options with lenses.
Whether you use manual or autofocus lenses, special modules mounted on the X9 can achieve wireless lens control and even autofocus.
Stabilization System - Steady in every way
The DJI Ronin 4D adds a Z-axis to the traditional 3-axis gimbal, effectively reducing vertical camera shake and providing dolly-level stabilization performance. The four axes work together with a downward-looking TOF sensor, forward and downward dual vision sensors, an integrated IMU and barometer, and an advanced new algorithm to take overall stabilization to a whole new level. With this compact body and its powerful stabilization features, complex camera movements that were once very costly are now easily possible.
Integrated Gimbal Camera
The Ronin 4D integrates the imaging and stabilization systems, while leaving only the sensor and necessary optical components in the gimbal camera. The gimbal's tilt axis uses two symmetrical motors, while both the pan axis and roll axis are equipped with an additional stiffness buffer.
With the compact and handy gimbal system, you can quickly start shooting without tedious manual balancing. This also delivers stable shots with lenses where the center of gravity shifts during shooting.
With a highly integrated body and strong motor power, the Ronin 4D offers the best stabilization and tracking performance of the entire Ronin series to date, while remaining incredibly lightweight. What's more, it can be switched to Sport mode at the touch of a button, allowing the gimbal to respond more quickly to movement.
It also supports wireless gimbal control and versatile mounting configurations for different shooting scenarios.
DJI's proprietary image recognition, deep-learning technology and the robust processing power of CineCore 3.0 come together in ActiveTrack Pro, which enables cinema-quality camera tracking with a single shot. This technology also enables tracking of subjects from longer distances and provides image composition adjustment with continuous autofocus to keep subjects in focus during camera moves.
LiDAR Focusing System - Unparalleled Accuracy
The DJI Ronin 4D makes manual focusing easier than ever. The visual focus assistant displays range points on the main and radio monitors in a simplified top-down view. This provides an innovative and intuitive LiDAR waveform to quickly locate focus points and enable focus adjustments with extreme precision. Even beginners with little or no experience can quickly become familiar with manual focusing.
LiDAR Range Measurement
The LiDAR rangefinder can create up to 43,200 measurement points within a 10 meter detection range. Compared to PDAF (Phase Detection AutoFocus), the Ronin 4D's LiDAR focus system can focus faster without compromising image quality and regardless of the subject's surface texture. This is especially useful in low-light environments and results in exceptional focusing capabilities compared to other cinema cameras.
With the new LiDAR focus system, the Ronin 4D is able to maintain focus in the presence of strong motion blur, even when the subject is moving quickly. With the focus motor mounted, autofocus is also available with manual lenses. Continuous autofocus can be activated in conjunction with ActiveTrack Pro, which is especially convenient for solo camera operators.
Automated Manual Focus
Automated Manual Focus (AMF) provides the accuracy and flexibility of manual focus with the convenience of autofocus. The focus wheel rotates in sync as the focus point changes, but you can take manual control at any time. The focus wheel on the right hand grip even has dynamic electromagnetic damping. This gives camera operators a realistic feel for focus changes and provides a more intuitive and modern focus experience that is currently unparalleled in the Industry.
Wireless Transmission & Control System - Incredibly Versatile
Video Transmission Performance
The Ronin 4D uses the brand new DJI O3 Pro video transmission technology, which offers a range of 6,000 meters, unimaginable in conventional solutions. In addition to 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz, it supports the DFS frequency band and an AES 256-bit encryption algorithm that can output a 1080p/60fps Full HD transmission to multiple wireless monitors simultaneously. This is done with significantly improved security, stability and noise immunity.
DJI's proprietary chip controls the Ronin 4D's imaging system, video transmitter, video receiver and wireless monitor. Together, these components form an optimized wireless transmission system where each link has been explicitly optimized to provide ultra-low transmission latency from one end to the other.
The 4D Video Transmitter can be mounted directly to the Ronin 4D and powered by the camera's batteries. The very bright wireless monitor features an integrated wireless video receiver, a 7-inch touchscreen display with 1,500 nits and wide color gamut. Both HDMI and SDI signals can be output via the expansion module. The compact and lightweight body is extremely handy and allows for efficient setup, so you can start recording immediately.
The very bright wireless monitor supports one transmitter with multiple receivers for video and audio transmission. Two transmission modes are available. The first is Broadcast mode, which does not limit the number of receivers and is suitable for large production teams. The second is Control mode, which supports coordinated operation of two receivers.
The very bright wireless monitor can be connected to Ronin 4D, DJI Master Wheels, DJI Force Pro or the new DJI three-channel follow focus handles. This allows remote control of focus and gimbal movements with high precision, starting and stopping recording, and adjusting camera settings to meet the highest standards for coordinated shooting on set. In addition, the built-in gyro sensor turns the monitor into a remote control for the Ronin 4D's gimbal.
Mirrored Control Mode
Mirrored control mode gives the very bright wireless monitor an identical control interface to that of the main monitor, including all advanced features such as source footage playback, video spec and gimbal settings that can now be adjusted remotely, even when the Ronin 4D is mounted on extension platforms such as a boom, cable cam or vehicle mount.
Independent recording and playback
The very bright wireless monitor has a built-in microSD card slot that supports independent recording of video at up to 1080p/60fps. When multiple wireless monitors are used together, each monitor can play back footage separately without affecting other Monitors.

The Ronin 4D has a built-in CFexpress Type-B slot along with a USB 3.1 Type-C expansion port for direct recording to an external storage device. It also enables the highest-specification internal video recording with the DJI PROSSD 1 TB, which connects directly to a computer via a USB-C cable for file transfer without a traditional SSD reader. These storage solutions are extremely cost-effective and ideal for those who want an unrivaled combination of performance and stability.
The Ronin 4D is equipped with built-in microphones that support two-channel 24-bit audio recording. It also offers 3.5mm phone jacks and XLR microphone connectors for more audio inputs.
Just like the Ronin 2 and Inspire 2, the DJI Ronin 4D uses TB50 Intelligent Batteries that offer up to 2.5 hours of recording time and can be fully charged in just 1.5 hours. Automatic preheating is also supported to enable reliable operation in extreme cold conditions.
